A small group of IRSP members, the vast majority of them residents of the Springfield Road, went to protest at the Orange supremacist march this afternoon in that area. As they made their way peacefully towards the protest they were confronted by the neo-Broy Harriers of the ‘Blue Bib Brigade’ led by well known Provisonal Sinn Fein member, Sean ‘Spike’ Murray. The small IRSP contingent, including the author explained that we were there to make a peaceful protest against unwelcome supremacist parades in our area. ‘Spike’ Murray was immediately transformed into a highly aggressive and agitated state, then assaulted an IRSP member by pushing him violently in the Solar Plexus. The IRSP member in question displayed admirable self control by not, quite justifiably retaliating and Mr Murray could obviously benefit from some form of acute anger management treatment
Such was the spectacle ‘Spike’ Murray was making of himself in front of local residents that other members of the blue bib brigade had to usher him offside and Bobby Storey apologised for his beahaviour, kind of, accompanied by the usual PSF flannel over how they now view supremacist parades.
A local resident approached the IRSP after the incident and made the salient point that while the figurehead of British imperialism is wined, dined and grovelled to by Provisional Sinn Fein, Irish Republican Socialists attempting to attend a peaceful protest are obstructed, assaulted and subjected to a tirade of abuse by a senior PSF individual who appeared to be in a psychotic state!
No doubt some of the Provisionals’ friends in the PSNI/RUC were delighted by ‘Spikes’ behaviour this afternoon, while others were seen to be smirking at the spectacle he made of himself.
Irish Republican Socialist Party members will not be intimidated by anyone, let alone an unstable individual with an unenviable track record of bullying locals in the Springfield Road throughout the years. Needless to say we are not ‘youngsters’ nor will be be bullied by elderly thugs or their ‘Blue Bib Harriers!’
